The Senior Outreach program has been in operation since 2005 under the sponsorship and guide of Jane and Louis Glade.
Now under the umbrella of Gladewaves, Inc. This program provides fully balanced, hot meals and a lecture series at no cost to any senior citizen who wishes to attend. The program begins in August and runs through May of each year. On average 100-200 people from all faiths, cultures and demographics attend each month. Beginning in August of 2018, two programs per month have been hosted by Gladewaves. These Senior luncheons have turned into a weekly event as of 2022. Each program includes a schedule of guest speakers who give presentations on varying subjects including books, health, music, history, art, culture and science. The purpose of the program is to offer engaging and stimulating learning and conversation along with the companionship of a community meal.
“Gerontological research has shown that enriched learning environments can help reduce cognitive decline due to aging as well as helping older adults deal with depression and poor self image.”
